The Bobo Mask from eastern Burkina Faso is a culturally significant piece symbolising animals or spirits, traditionally worn during crop ceremonies, initiations, and funerals. For the Bobo people, the mask’s sacredness lies in the belief that the divinity is present within it. Carved from solid wood, each mask carries unique signs of age such as small cracks or discoloration that enhance its authenticity and character.
